Music games are becoming more and more popular because they offer a wide variety of tracks that can appeal to almost any music fan out there who likes to enjoy a nice video game every once in a while.

However, while two of the biggest music game franchises out there, Guitar Hero and Rock Band, focus a lot on rock and roll, heavy metal fans have been certainly feeling a bit neglected. But now, thanks to the team at Harmonix, they will have more reasons to throw up the horns while they're playing their copy of Rock Band.

The company has just announced that it will deliver the Rock Band Metal Track Pack on October 13 as a retail disc available in all major game stores around the world. Priced at $29.99, the disc will be available for all of the platforms on which Rock Band has arrived, the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii.

It will contain 20 tracks, which will be “exploding with bone-crushing, ear-lashing, face-melting metal including anvil-heavy cuts from Godsmack, Children of Bodom, Evile, Judas Priest, Bullet For My Valentine and more!” Also, six of the tracks available on the disc will be timed exclusives and will make their way onto the Rock Band online store a few weeks after the release of this retail disc.

The track pack will be compatible with instruments created for the Rock Band titles that have appeared up until now and with many of the controllers made for franchises like Guitar Hero or coming from third-party developers and manufacturers.

As a special treat, fans who buy the disc for their Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 will be able to either play the songs from the disc or download them onto the hard drives of their consoles and have them available for play in the full Rock Band titles.

Here is the complete tracklist:

1. All That Remains - Two Weeks 2. At the Gates - Blinded By Fear 3. Black Tide - Shockwave 4. Blue Öyster Cult - Transmaniacon MC 5. Bullet For My Valentine - Waking the Demon 6. Children of Bodom - Are You Dead Yet 7. Evile - Thrasher 8. Godsmack - I Stand Alone 9. The Haunted - D.O.A. 10. Hawkwind - Master Of The Universe 11. I Mother Earth - Levitate 12.
