An interesting DLC lineup for this week

Music games have become one of the guaranteed moneymakers for almost any developer, as the latter can generate income not only from selling copies of the games, but also from the sales of the peripherals that are needed to play these and, most important for long-term profitability, from the DLC tracks that the titles receive each week.

As always, Harmonix and MTV Games, the developer and publisher of the hit franchise Rock Band, have now announced the songs that gamers will find this week in the Rock Band Music Store on the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Store. It is quite a varied bunch of tracks to say the least, as they range from classic rock from Journey, to songs from Nickelodeon's massively popular SpongeBob SquarePants animated cartoons.

Journey will make its second appearance in the game with its classic power ballad Don't Stop Believing, a song that the Harmonix staff teased us with at last week's Game Developers Conference. Pat Benatar will add another hit to the Rock Band store as the classic track Heartbreaker will also appear this week.

Some more modern tracks will also appear, as Glasvegas and Von Bondies, both performers at 2009's South by Southwest Rock Band Showcase, will bring songs to the store, in the form of Geraldine and C'Mon C'Mon respectively.

But most important is the addition of three tracks from Nickelodeon's very popular SpongeBog SquarePants cartoons. I Can't Keep My Eyes Off of You, Where's Gary? and The Best Day Ever will be making their appearance in the Rock Band Store this Tuesday on the Xbox 360 and Thursday on the PlayStation 3.

Here's the complete tracklist: Journey “Don't Stop Believing’” Pat Benatar “Heartbreaker” Glasvegas “Geraldine” Von Bondies “C’Mon C’Mon” SpongeBob SquarePants “I Can’t Keep My Eyes Off of You” SpongeBob SquarePants “The Best Day Ever” SpongeBob SquarePants “Where’s Gary?”

Prices range from 1.99 dollars or 160 MS Points for all the tracks except for the SpongeBob SquarePants ones, which retail for just 99 cents, or 80 MS Points. Those who want all the tracks from the popular cartoon can buy them as a bundle and spend just 2.99 dollars or 240 MS Points.
