Here's one of the many great announcements today: 'Rock Band downloadable content disclosed!' 7 artist packs and 9 single songs have been confirmed by MTV. The artist packs containing three songs each and individual tracks are 'legit' according to 1UP.com. While future Rock Band gamers will be able to download just one song, even if it comes within an artist pack, Guitar Hero III players don't afford this luxury, having to download the entire pack.

The full list of DLC to come for Rock Band can be found below. Fans of the music game should keep in mind that this is not launch content, as the same website confirms, but just "the first wave" of DLC promised by Harmonix to be released in chunks every other week after the game's official launch.

Artist Packs: The Police: Roxanne, Synchronicty II, Can't Stand Losing You (masters) Queens of the Stone Age: 3s and 7s, Sick Sick Sick, Little Sister (masters) Metallica: Three-to-six song pack, no songs announced (TBA) Black Sabbath: N.I.B, Sweet Leaf, War Pigs (covers) David Bowie: Moonage Daydream, Heroes, Queen Bitch (TBA) Punk Pack: The Buzzcocks' "Ever Fallen in Love," (cover) The Clash' "I Fought the Law," (master) The Ramones' "Rockaway Beach" (master)

Rock Band challenges users to master the lead/bass guitar, drums and vocals as solo artists or cooperatively as part of their own band. The game launches in the first quarter of 2008 in Europe, hitting the most popular systems available today: Xbox 360, PS3 and PS2. Rock Band is rated "T" for Teen (lyrics, mild suggestive themes) by the ESRB. EA stands as the distribution label for the game.
