Should start selling later this month

While it can't exactly be called a foray into the gaming notebook market, Roccat has made a step towards eventually offering its own gaming system by partnering with mySN Schenker–Notebook. The former, even though it focuses on peripherals, is getting ready to commercialize a gaming notebook, dubbed Gamerbook, whose design is based on its partner mySN's XMG6 mobile PC. The computer will bear Roccat's own brand and will be bundled with a set of peripherals meant to complement or enhance its own feature set, in order to allow the highest level of enjoyment when playing even the most recent gaming titles.

As end-users would expect, the upcoming mobile gaming system will combine Full-HD resolutions with high framerates, strong processing capabilities and a matching memory capacity. First of all, the 15.6-inch, LED-backlit display used in the device's construction has a maximum resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Secondly, the machine itself is powered by an Intel Core i7-720QM central processing unit, which is backed up by 4GB of RAM. Also, storage space s provided by a 320GB hard drive, with a rotary speed of 7,200RPM.

It is the graphics adapter employed by Roccat's new offer that might seem a bit outdated to certain hard-core enthusiasts, mostly because it doesn't have the DirectX 11 support of AMD's Mobility Radeon HD 5000 series. For those that are content even without DirectX 11 (especially considering that there are still very few games that use tessellation), the Gamerbook comes with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M, which has 1GB of dedicated memory. Other specifications of the laptop include a DVD writer, Bluetooth, WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet and the Microsoft Windows 7 or Vista operating system.

Set to become available in Germany later this month, the 3.3kg Roccat Gamerbook will carry a price tag of 1,449 Euro and will be bundled with the Roccat Sota gaming mousepad, as well as the Pyra wireless mouse.
