Robin Thicke and his latest single, “Blurred Lines,” a collaboration with Pharrell and T.I., are further confirmation that controversy sells better than anything else. Despite backlash over a very raunchy video and misogynistic lyrics, the single is still climbing up the charts.

“Blurred Lines” is still at number one in UK charts, Reuters reports, citing official figures.

“The Official Charts Company said Thicke sold a further 133,000 copies of the single over the last week to bring total UK sales to 718,000, the year's second biggest selling track,” Reuters says.

“The song, which features vocals by U.S. artists T.I. and Pharrell Williams, has already been a number one hit in the United States and around the world,” adds the same media outlet.

For the record, Thicke has not addressed claims that the lyrics to “Blurred Lines” encourage or glamorize in any way an objectifying and degrading treatment of women.
