Robert Pattinson usually likes to keep a very low profile, putting in appearances only when he has to, meaning for promotional duties stipulated in his contract. However, he did not hesitate when organizers of Hope for Haiti asked him to present the upcoming telethon meant to raise funds for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti, E! Online informs.

“Robert Pattinson is on board. I just got word that the ‘Twilight’ star has signed on for Friday’s Hope for Haiti telethon. As of right now, it looks like Rob will be the sole presenter in London, with performances by Jay-Z and Bono. Stateside performers – some announced and others not – will include: Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Shakira and Bruce Springsteen, who are among those performing live during the two-hour benefit, which will air on all the major television networks,” E! says.

According to the same publication, Pattinson and his two co-stars in “The Twilight Saga,” Kirsten Stewart and Taylor Lautner, were very hot celebrities for organizers of telethons because of the huge appeal they have with younger audiences. The same goes for stars like Angelina Jolie and Oprah Winfrey, whose presence alone would suffice to raise considerable sums, it is being said. As of now, of them, only Pattinson has confirmed his involvement in the cause.

“Other mega-celebs who will present and / or help in the phone banks are Jennifer Aniston, Jake Gyllenhaal, Brad Pitt, Anna Kendrick, Zac Efron, Bradley Cooper, Renee Zellweger, Chris Pine, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Colin Farrell, Gabby Sidibe and Emily Blunt, among many others. […] George Clooney is set to host from Los Angeles, with Wyclef John in New York City and CNN newsman Anderson Cooper in Haiti. Our source says celeb participation and other plans keep changing. ‘With everything moving so quickly,’ the source said, ‘changes are happening every minute’,” E! further explains.

Other celebrities, as we were also telling you a couple of days ago, are using the media coverage they get for a good cause, with many female stars in attendance at the Golden Globes this year putting their gowns up for auction. All the proceeds from the auction will be donated to charities in Haiti.
