14 DAY TRIAL // Robert Pattinson is the latest Hollywood hunk to go down the road of scruffiness: arriving at LAX the other day, the guy playing one of the hottest vampires ever debuted a very scruffy beard.
Of course, this is not the first time that the British heartthrob is seen with facial hair, though, until now, he kept in check. This time, though, he really let himself go.
As these things go, Robert’s beard is now a trending topic in the blogosphere with fans literally torn between whether he’s hotter with or without it.
As PopSugar puts it, growing such a beard could only be Robert’s way of enjoying himself, while also probably hoping for some anonymity as well thanks to it.
“Robert Pattinson carried his bag out to his car last night as he arrived at LAX with his pal Tom Sturridge. The actor is back in California after enjoying some downtime, in which he apparently grew out his facial hair!” PopSugar writes.
“Robert was able to relax following his long Summer spent shooting Water for Elephants with Reese Witherspoon, who’s now working on another project with her new leading man Chris Pine,” the e-zine further says.
“Robert, meanwhile, headed to Canada to visit girlfriend Kristen Stewart and Tom as they shot On the Road together. Kristen managed to escape the set, though, in order to engage in some PDA out in Montreal with Rob,” PopSugar adds.
People magazine too inclines to believe the beard is more of a decoy than anything else, since it’s a known fact that Pattinson lies to fly under the radar most of the time – and would be happy if he could do so at all times.
Ted Casablanca of E! Online’s The Awful Truth, on the other hand, thinks Pattinson is simply trying to make a statement of sorts, by being the exact opposite of Edward Cullen of “The Twilight Saga.”
As he sees it, being near-perfect almost all the time must be pretty tiresome, especially for a man who’s constantly trying to distance himself from the image fans have of him because of the movie franchise.
“R.P. is probably just trying to get his angst out before he gets back into Edward shape for many many months (being perfectly coiffed and clean-shaven gets old fast). And this time, R.Pattz has to do it back-to-back for both Breaking Dawn flicks,” Casablanca writes.
As a side note, the only actor to get this much media attention for his beard was Brad Pitt, who just recently shaved his for a movie part – to the delight of his millions of female fans around the world.
