Robert Pattinson is currently channeling his creative energies towards something else than acting, despite the super star status he's achieved thanks to the “Twilight” and “Harry Potter” series. He's now moving towards a singing career with hopes of recording his first solo album.

The first steps of his musical efforts have already been made, according to Hollywoodlife, as the actor has contacted some of the big names in songwriting, in order to record a number one hit song, along with an entire solo album.

Robert is no stranger to music, as he's previously released some tracks to some moderate success. According to an insider, “Rob loves acting, but his real passion is music. He’s eager to record a solo album when he finishes up his film commitments. Last year, he started working with one of the top songwriters in the industry. They hope to produce and record a hit single when they are finished, along with an entire album as well.”

His passion for music meant that every time he got a break on set, he would focus on creating songs. “During his free time on set, he is working on his music. It’s a bit tough because he’s so busy, but of course he takes his guitar whenever he goes,” explains the source.

The actor can probably bank on his huge masses of teenage “Twilight” fans to help propel him to the tops of charts, but he'll also need a good song.

Meantime, former girlfriend and fellow co-star Kristen Stewart is also trying her hand at the music industry, though in a different manner. She is currently directing a music video for Sage + the Saints, a county band with which she's good friends.

Oddly enough, both actors seem very keen to put their acting fame behind them and focus on other career pursuits, much to the desperation of fans, who were hoping that they would continue to appear on screen in other roles.
