Things are getting serious between “Twilight” co-stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. So serious that the British heartthrob has even taken the extra step and has bought Kristen a “promise ring,” according to ongoing reports.

As fans must probably already know, the actress recently turned 21, when she got a bike as present from Robert and the rest of the “Twilight” cast.

Turns out that Robert has more surprises in store for his girlfriend: he’s also bought her a huge diamond, vintage promise ring, and he’s just waiting for right moment to give it to her, the latest print edition of OK! magazine claims (story via here).

The usual unnamed insider tells the mag that Robert searched high and low for the perfect gift for Kristen: and he eventually found it through a jewelry dealer.

“[He] bought a diamond ‘promise ring’ for his 21-year-old co-star girlfriend, and he’s just waiting for the right moment to give it to her,” says the mag.

“The friend of the couple reveals that Rob has been showing off the vintage ring, which was made in the 1800s. ‘The ring is rose-cut diamonds set in rose gold,’ the friend says,” OK! claims.

The $17,000 ring is described as very “feminine” and very vintage-looking – just like the sparkler Edward Cullen (Pattinson’s character in “The Twilight Saga”) gives to Bella (Stewart) when he proposes to her, one might add.

This time, though, there will be no proposing, which is why Robert went precisely for a ring that looks nothing like an engagement ring.

But he’s willing to commit to something more serious than what they have right now, and he’s taking the necessary steps to show to Kristen just that.

“Rob is more mature than Kristen, and he’s ready to settle down. Rob would marry Kristen, but he knows she’s not ready, so he’s taking baby steps. That’s why he bought the promise ring,” the same unnamed insider explains.
