Robert Pattinson reveals he’s adopted a puppy because he gets too lonely on the road

He may be one of the most popular young actors of the day but, when he’s not surrounded by his screaming fans, Robert Pattinson is actually a very lonely guy. In order to be less alone when he’s on the road, staying at hotels, the British star has adopted a puppy.

The Daily Record has a very extensive interview with the heartthrob in which he talks, among many other things, about how hard it is to be always on the road working because evenings tend to be incredibly lonely.

Some stars have entourages that travel with them wherever they may go, but this is not his case, Robert says in the interview.

He believes his friends’ egos are simply too big to agree to leave their homes and fly halfway across the world just because he wants them there.

“I know it’s sad. A lot of actors have a bunch of people who kind of just go up and stay with them for like two months, like an entourage,” the actor explains.

“But my friends, their egos are too big. They’d be like, ‘I’m not part of your entourage. I’ll stay in a free hotel for a bit if it’s in New York or LA but I’m not going to come out to some random town in the sticks’,” Pattinson adds.

The puppy, on the other hand, will accompany him no matter where he goes – and won’t even put up an argument about it.

“But that’s kind of why I adopted the puppy. It’s from a shelter and he was going to be put down. I only got him two or three days ago and they only keep them for 10 days,” Robert says.

For the puppy, who is yet to receive a name, going from the experience of the shelter to flying on a private jet was a bit shocking.

“He’s been freaked out. It’s funny. I got a private plane here from Louisiana, where I was filming Twilight, so he came out of the shelter and the next day he’s on a private plane. A bit like Lady And The Tramp,” the actor jokes.

Asked about how he plans to name the pup, Robert says he hasn’t yet decided – but he doesn’t rule out the possibility of naming him “Robert.”
