Though you would not expect it, a standalone Black Widow movie made by Marvel is a project that has elicited a lot of arguments and passions. Mostly because the studio is inexplicably and relentlessly refusing to give Scarlett Johansson her own movie.

The huge studio has expressed time and again its intention to focus on other projects than those driven by female superheroes. This means that Scarlett's Black Widow won't be getting her own movie, despite the fans clamoring for it.

Now their voices are joined by that of actor and fellow cast-member Robert Downey Jr., who appeared alongside Scarlett in “The Avengers.” In an interview with USA Today, Robert unequivocally says that he wants a Black Widow movie.

“Doesn't Scarlett deserve a break?” he asks rhetorically and with a sly smile.

He goes on to add that there are other female characters in the Marvel universe that deserve their shot at fame too, “Look, I think that the interesting thing particularly after ‘Guardians’ with Zoe (Saldana), (or) even from the first ‘Iron Man’ where Pepper was kind of this really - to me the Iron Man franchise would never have taken off without (Gwyneth) Paltrow.”

His conclusion was that “honestly at this point everyone deserves a franchise. But I'm sure that my parent company is feeling expansive and and bold after the summer they've had.”

Recently, Stan Lee, co-founder of Marvel, has said at a comic convention that Black Widow is in plans for her own movie, “She will have her own movie because eventually all the superheroes are going to have their own movies.”
