Earlier this year, in October, Robbie Williams officially marked his return to the music scene with a much hyped performance on the popular ITV competition the X Factor. It was supposed to be a once in a lifetime event but, instead, it turned out to be a disappointment to many. Now, Williams is poised to give it another try with a duet on the show’s finale, Marie Claire informs.

As we also reported at the time, Williams’ rendition of “Bodies” was considered as completely off the mark, as the singer seemed unsure and too stressed out to be able to focus on the song, spending most of the time onstage addressing the audience instead of actually singing. Because of this, the live performance was labeled by many a disaster, including some fans who said they had been bitterly disappointed by it. Both them and the critics will have a second chance to enjoy Robbie for the true artist he is if the ongoing rumors prove accurate.

“Robbie Williams gets a second X Factor outing as the Grand Final’s duets are revealed. It was one of the most anticipated performances of the X Factor season – but when Robbie debuted his single ‘Bodies’ on the show in October, all seemed far from well. Robbie received a mixed reception for his comeback – which involved him jumping round animatedly, and repeatedly breaking off his performance to shake hands with the audience. He was sporting a rather wide-eyed stare,” Marie Claire says.

“With much to prove, he’s rumored to return this weekend for a make-or-break duet with finalist Olly Murs. Although Olly is a music industry newcomer, he’s been a consummate professional during the live show weeks,” the same publication explains. Marie Claire even managed to speak with someone close to the producers, who can confirm that an offer has been forwarded to the singer and that all signs are pointing in the right direction. However, an official announcement regarding the appearance is still pending.

Following his first performance on X Factor in October, Robbie tried to explain to the critics and fans what had gone wrong. He was under a lot of stress and too nervous to be able to put on a proper show, he revealed. Moreover, the fact that the door that he was supposed to go through in order to appear on stage did not function as it should have, turned him upside down even more. There was a lot to handle with for his first live show in three years but, he believes, towards the end, things started to go more smoothly, he said at the time.
