Hamburg-based developer InnoGames has announced a new, PvP-oriented, cross-platform strategy massively multiplayer online game titled Rising Generals.

The game will allow players to take control of a wide variety of tanks and other armored vehicles, as well as deadly aircraft, and it will upgrade and staff their military base in order to defend from hostile neighbors and invade adversaries.

As commanders of a high-profile military base, players will be able to unlock various technologies and to recruit officers and generals to bestow helpful bonuses to their units.

The game is designed with instant action in mind and is created so that players can progress at a significantly higher speed than other online strategy titles, with real-time 3D animations to give each battle a unique feeling.

"We want the Rising Generals players to experience a feeling of thrill and exhilaration in a short time period. Immediacy, accessibility and sensory feedback are core aspects of the game," says the game’s producer Christoph Schmidt.

Rising Generals is set in a retro futuristic setting, with the main goal being to build up your base and gradually extend your reach, forming Battle Groups with other players and embarking on a campaign to conquer the surrounding sectors.

The more outposts you conquer, the more resources you have to recruit and upgrade your troops. Judicious use of resources and army intelligence will be key in becoming victorious, as a strong army and knowledge of your enemy are of great importance.

There are around 20 units in the game, from light ones such as armored cars to heavy Demolisher tanks, complete with helicopters and tactical bombers and artillery units, to make for a challenging and well-rounded strategic gameplay.

InnoGames has an impressive track record so far, being responsible for the hit browser games Tribal Wars, Forge of Empires and Grepolis. When making Rising Generals, they also benefited from the assistance of Bruce Shelley, whose experience working on Civilization and the Age of Empires series helped immensely with the upcoming game's development.

Rising Generals is playable across iOS and Android-based phones and tablets, and it is also fully playable in any browser, with the same content and cross-platform compatibility. The game's upcoming beta test is scheduled for this summer, and registrations are already open on the Rising Generals website.
