Deep Silver has just announced that its upcoming Risen 2: Dark Waters role-playing game has been delayed on consoles, and would reach the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms at the end of July and beginning of August.

Risen 2 is awaited by quite a lot of dedicated fans who fell in love with the original title made by Piranha Bytes.

What's more, for the first time in the series, the RPG will also make its way onto consoles, not just the PC, so quite a few people are also awaiting its arrival on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Sadly, a bit more waiting is in store for them, as publisher Deep Silver has announced that the game has been pushed back from May release date, and it would now reach consoles in the middle of summer.

"Deep Silver announced new release dates for Risen 2: Dark Waters on consoles. The pirate RPG will now board store shelves on July 31, 2012 in the USA and Canada and on August 03, 2012 in European countries. Console versions will be released on the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation 3."

However, the longer waiting time will allow the company to add more content to these two versions of Risen 2, as a special Air Temple add-on will be incorporated in the experience, featuring several hours of new adventures.

"Additionally, the console versions of Risen 2: Dark Waters will now offer extra content on both platforms. They contain the episode "The Air Temple" which features several hours of additional gameplay. In this sub-plot the hero embarks on a quest to discover the lost temple, source of air magic. When he hears rumors that his old acquaintance Eldric has been seen in Antigua the hero knows that he needs to pick up his trail in order to find Storm Island, where the Air Temple is located."

The PC version of Risen 2: Dark Waters is still set to appear later this week, on April 27, via a variety of digital distribution services.
