Ritot is the first smartwatch to arrive with a pico projector

Smartwatches are starting to become so mainstream that soon customers will cease to be impressed by the regular shape of rectangular devices.

Now, device makers have to strive to come with alternate solutions capable of stirring the masses’ attention from offerings like the LG G Watch or the Moto 360.

This brings us to the Ritot, a new smartwatch concept that will somehow puzzle your brain waves. The project is currently up on Indiegogo looking to gather funds, but its goal has been already surpassed, so it appears the device will make it out onto the market.

Anyway, what makes the Ritot special, is that it aims to be the first smartwatch slash projector. You heard that right. As opposed to most smartwatches out there, which come with a screen, the Ritot doesn't have one, because it uses your hand / arm for the purpose of displaying, time, notifications and the like.

This is quite an interesting concept, but we can’t help but wonder what this will look like in real life. Imagine being out with somebody when you’re hand lights up and a message pops up that can be read by the other party. Say goodbye to privacy.

Anyway, if this aspect doesn't trouble you, we'll move on by saying the Ritot is available in two models, Sport and Bracelet, and the creators behind the project say the device is perfectly safe to wear, so you don’t have to worry about nasty rashes like in the case of the FitBit.

The smartwatch embeds a pico projector with the help of which one can display high-quality graphics. The device will ship with a special base which will become in-handy when you need to re-charge the gizmo and works wirelessly. The base can also be used as a pretty neat alarm clock.

The device features only one touch sensitive button, which can be used to control certain features of the device.

Ritot looks quite stylish and could be easily mistaken for a fashion accessory. The watch can pair with your iOS, Android and Windows Phone and relay notifications for incoming phone calls, text messages, reminders, email, calendar alerts, Facebook messages, Twitter, weather alerts and such on your hand.

Users will be able to change the projection color by virtue of one click and there are 20 options to choose from. Projections can be activated in two different ways; you can either touch the button or just simply shake your hand. It will disappear after 10 seconds from your hand, so your message does stand a chance of not being intercepted by everyone else around you.

The watch benefits from energy saving technology and will last you up to 1 month in stand-by mode and 150 hours in projection mode.

Anyway, you have to grant it to the Ritot, this is a pretty innovative, yet bizarre concept. Nevertheless, if it appeals to you, note that you can secure one of these devices if you pledge $120 / €88 with worldwide shipping expected to start in February 2015.
