It seems that Instagram had enough of the singer's scandals

Just last week Rihanna was causing a frenzy when she decided to post some very risqué photos of herself without her top on Instagram, probably in an effort to get more fans or just to brag about her magazine covers and photo shoots. Instagram didn't like the adult nature of the photos and took them down, giving the singer a warning.

Today, it looks like they went all the way and actually deleted her account. Going to what used to be Rihanna's Instagram profile, fans are now greeted by a somber and puzzling message “Page Not Found. This page could not be found. You might have followed an incorrect link.”

This is quite unusual, as social media sites rarely (if ever) choose to delete accounts from celebrities that have been verified. The reason for that is simple: celebrities have the power to attract a lot of followers or fans and they also have the power to convert non-users into users, bringing in more traffic and revenue for the site.

But this time, Instagram seems to have chosen safety over income, as they finally decided to stick to their own community guidelines rules which forbid the posting of adult material on their website, and promptly suspend her account, much like they would in case you were a regular person breaking these rules.

Of course, the other theory could be that Rihanna herself deleted her own account, tired of having to upload and then delete photos that Instagram deemed inappropriate for their viewers. This also happened last week with her by now infamous photos for Lui Magazine.

After she had to take them down from Instagram, she simply posted them on Twitter, where fans could oggle at her lady parts as much as they wanted without being bothered by any pesky community guidelines.

A spokesperson for Rihanna claimed that her camp had no knowledge of the matter and that they were looking into it, “We don’t know what happened but have been looking into it.”

Rihanna's account briefly reappeared online shortly yesterday, but then it was taken down again, after Instagram confirmed that it was taken down by mistake, “This account was mistakenly caught in one of our automated systems and very briefly disabled. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

After it went down the second time, Instagram claimed that it had nothing to do with the missing page, so it really does look like Rihanna's Instagram page “Badgirlriri” is down for the count, presumably because she grew tired of it.
