Day 1 at Lollapalooza ended with performances by Eminem, the Arctic Monkeys, Zedd, and Phantogram. For fans of the Detroit rapper, the surprises didn’t stop here because, at one point during his set, Rihanna simply popped up on stage for a surprise performance.

The crowd went completely wild when she came up. Even though she’s been doing surprise appearances of this kind for quite some time now, she still gets the same reception from fans, which proves that whoever came up with the idea that she and Eminem do a summer tour is a very savvy person.

Speaking of it, this Lollapalooza performance was like a mini teaser for what’s in store for fans who already got their tickets for the Monster tour, which kicks off on August 7 and will include only a few stops in major cities across the US.

Eminem performed solo hits like “My Name Is,” “Without Me,” “The Real Slim Shady,” “Kill You,” “Not Afraid,” and “Lose Yourself,” and when Rihanna joined him, they treated their fans to live renditions of their biggest duets so far, “Love the Way You Lie” and “The Monster.”

Perhaps the biggest surprise was when Rihanna launched into “Stan,” which Eminem recorded with Dido and released in 2000. You can check out all three songs in the videos below, assuming you don’t mind the rather questionable audio.

The Monster Tour wraps on August 23 in Eminem’s hometown Detroit. If you need more confirmation that he’s still one of the biggest rappers in the game, you should probably know that, of the 6 scheduled dates, 3 are long sold out.
