Justin Timberlake works on Rihanna’s upcoming album, dishes out details of the collaboration

No release date has yet been announced for Rihanna’s next studio album but, for what it’s worth, reports in the media suggest it will be one of the biggest releases of recent years. To make matters even more interesting and thus increase the hype, Justin Timberlake reveals that he too collaborated with Rihanna for the album and even dishes out some details on what fans are to expect from it, as Rolling Stone can confirm.

Timberlake and Chase & Status are not the only collaborators to have been contacted by Rihanna’s team. As we were also telling you a while back, Sean Kingston, Kanye West, Soulja Boy, Pharrell Williams and Jay-Z themselves are also listed among those who have effectively lent a hand in the making of the next Rihanna material. In the end, it will turn out to be something that will blow fans away, while also introducing a more artistically mature Rihanna, one that has evolved in terms of sound, Timberlake says.

“In my opinion, she’s got the world in the palm of her hand right now, based on her success with her last record. The stuff we’ve come up with in the studio, it’s the next step for her. It’s a little more grown up. It’s got some edge to it.” Timberlake reveals in a recent interview, as quoted by Rolling Stone. Saul Milton and Will Kennard of Chase & Status also vouch that the record is shaping up just nicely, with Rihanna getting involved in every stage of the creative process, from coming up with ideas for melodies to lyrics, which stands as proof of her growth as an artist.

“When she doesn’t like something she’ll let you know. When she likes something she’ll let you know as well. On one track she came up with some cool melodies and cool ideas, the kind of vibe she wanted. This album for her is just about what she likes and what she’s into and what she wants. If she’s not into the vibe she’ll be like, ‘Nope, I don’t think it’s for me.’” Milton says of what working with Rihanna is like.

So far, all those who’ve been involved in one way or another in the making of Rihanna’s album have had nothing but great things to say about it (and her, implicitly). Still, the only one to keep her silence is Rihanna, who has not even hinted at an approximate release date. This, in turn, has led to speculation the album might drop this November, although Rolling Stone claims a more likely possibility is for this to happen early in 2010.
