Owners of Android-based devices out there can now enjoy the features of a new, highly popular mobile game, namely Ridiculous Fishing.

The title has just landed in the Google Play Store, though it was featured in last week’s Humble Mobile Bundle 3, and is available with a price tag of $2.99 (€2.20) attached to it.

Ridiculous Fishing comes from Vlambeer, which confirmed its arrival on Android a few weeks ago. The game landed on iOS devices a while ago, and has already proved a highly popular application.

In short, the new title is nothing more than a “handcrafted game about fishing with guns, chainsaws and toasters,” as its description reads. The new mobile game for Android also features fish that become hats.

However, things are not as simple as they might seem, and the game promises hours of gameplay as users follow Billy in his attempt to find redemption from his uncertain past.

Users will be playing across continents, and will also enter a never-ending Infinite arcade world, while chasing destiny on the high seas. All in all, they will “embark on a heroic quest for glory and gills.”

Ridiculous Fishing also promises dozens of unlockable weapons and items, including popular fishing gear. Some of these items include the Most Expensive Hairdryer In The World and A Bowling Ball.

According to the title’s developers, there are no in app-purchases coming with the title. You “buy the game, play the game. No additional costs, no hidden fees. Even the hats are IAP-free,” the company notes.

The Android game is based on Vlambeer's popular 2010 original Ridiculous Fishing, which “was lovingly handcrafted over the course of two years by Vlambeer (Super Crate Box), Zach Gage (Spelltower, Bit Pilot, Unify) and Greg Wohlwend (Hundreds, Solipskier, Gasketball).”

The game has won the Design Award in 2013, and was also nominated for the 2011 Independent Games Festival Awards. It has received other awards and recognitions as well.

You can find Ridiculous Fishing for Android listed on Softpedia as well. The game is available as version 1.2.2.1 at the moment, with support for all devices running under Android 2.3 and up.
