14 DAY TRIAL // Despite the controversy and the rumors that have not stopped since he broke up with longtime paramour Rebecca de Alba, Ricky Martin has come to live a very fulfilling life away from the spotlight, thanks to his twins Valentino and Matteo. The singer decided to celebrate the twins’ one-year anniversary by taking part in an extremely endearing photoshoot of the three on vacation, which was then posted on Martin’s official webpage.
Shot by Pablo Alfaro and including both color and black-and-white images, the photos show a side of the artist that the public has rarely seen, save for one exception, when he took to Twitter to post a picture of himself giving one of the boys his first bath. All three are having fun, that much is certain, but what the photos also show, according to word in the blogosphere, is that Ricky Martin can actually get more adorable than fans might have initially believed.
As it’s common knowledge, Ricky is a single parent and he’s still dodging questions about why he is not in a relationship. A while back, he said in an interview that his “heart could belong to a woman or a man,” which was the first – and only – statement that came even close to a coming out. The twins were delivered with the help of a surrogate mother and, when his rep made the announcement in August 2008, they were already in his care.
At the time, the publicist only said that Ricky Martin was ecstatic about the idea of becoming a father, refusing to offer more details about his plans for the future. “Ricky is elated to begin this new chapter in his life as a parent and will be spending the remainder of the year out of the public spotlight in order to spend time with his children.” the rep said a year ago.
