The WWII is far from being over in the games' world

You are probably tired of getting the same WWII games over and over again, but the developers certainly enjoy producing such titles. For example, Matrix Games will probably create one for every major battle in the war, then spin offs from them and, eventually, remakes. The good thing about the company, though, is that it offers quality games for the hardcore real and turn based strategy fans - and a new title has just joined their impressive lineup.

Kharkov: Disaster on the Donets is the name of the game and it is the long-awaited successor to the award winning Decisive Battles series developed by Strategic Studies Group. The title allows players to command the Soviet or German forces during their clash in 1942 and, just as it happens in any respectable strategy game, rewrite history!

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said, "The latest masterpiece from the award-winning Strategic Studies Group has been at the top of many gamers' wish lists and for good reason. Kharkov: Disaster on the Donets brings together the riveting and enjoyable mechanics of the Decisive Battles and Battlefront titles and combines it with plenty of innovation and novel gameplay!"

The innovation David Heath is talking about is actually a new fighting system which allows both regimental and battalion-level combat, incorporating off-map reinforcement decisions. All the maps are historically accurate, but there is a "mystery" level which can be applied to change them in order to offer a better replayability value to the game.

Kharkov: Disaster on the Donets also brings improved combat tables and new HQ bonuses which will affect both Direct and Indirect Fire. The area of operations has also been tweaked, eliminating the possibility of unrealistically deploying troops and implementing a reward system which allows the achievement of local objectives. But I'm sure you'll find all these exciting things by yourself if you decide to purchase this new strategy title.
