Finally, the full version of Return to Dark Castle is here. SuperHappyFunFun is reporting that the long awaited, face-lifted, Mac original Dark Castle game is now available for 30 bucks on the publisher's web site.

As a fan of the addictive platformer, you should already know that a demo of the game has been available for quite some time now, so if you've had a go at it and liked the changes, here's your next stop.

Dark Castle is a 1986 computer game launched exclusively for the Macintosh, published by Silicon Beach Software. The platformer was designed and illustrated by Mark Pierce and programmed by Jonathan Gay. Dark Castle saw a sequel just the year after (Beyond Dark Castle), with a Color Dark Castle and a mobile installment of the game, following in 1994 and 2006 respectively.

Z Sculpt (the developer) has recently issued a report announcing that Return to Dark Castle, the face-lifted version of the original also packing a few extras, was finished, as the previously released beta had expired. Now, we have confirmation that the game is up for grabs on its publisher's web site, who lists the following as main features of Return to Dark Castle:

- Over 50 brand-new levels, including: * All 30 classic, re-mastered levels from Dark Castle and Beyond Dark Castle integrated into a new, extensive quest! * New Secret Rooms and Mini-games. - 25 orbs to collect (5 times that of BDC). - All of the classic foes plus new monsters and bosses. - New weapons, power ups, and secret items. - Random labyrinths and mazes provide unique puzzles every time. - Game recording and playback so users can share replays of their accomplishments. - Customizable costumes to give each player a unique look. - Support for most gamepads and joysticks.

Z Sculpt had additionally mentioned in its report that the development team had started some documentation on a level editor for the game, which designers were welcome to have a look at. Sadly, the full game does not include a level editor as previously announced.
