Activision, as the publisher, and Infinity Ward, as the developer, have announced that the second map pack for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is set to arrive on June 3 exclusively on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft. The map pack is called Resurgence and will be made up of five new maps tailored to widen the range of multiplayer experiences available for players of the first person shooter.

The two have not unveiled the pricing for the new map pack but expect it to debut with the 15 dollar price tag introduced with the Stimulus Package. Versions of Resurgence will also be delivered on the PlayStation 3 and on the PC, probably with a delay of about one month.

Activision has not detailed the content of the pack but each of the maps will likely offer a fresh environment and challenges for those who are competitive in the multiplayer section of Modern Warfare 2. The pack will include two old maps, Vacant and Strike, the new ones being Carnival, Fuel and Trailer Park. The Stimulus Package managed to sell more than 2.5 million units in its first week on sale on Xbox Live and the Resurgence DLC could perform just as well.

The Resurgence Map Pack is the last known bit of content developer Infinity Ward is set to deliver for its smash hit Modern Warfare 2. The company has recently seen more than 30 of its most important employees leave after founder and leader Vince Zampella and Jason West were fired by Activision. Most of them made their way to Respawn Entertainment, a new studio headed by the pair now working with publisher Electronic Arts.

Activision has already announced that the new Call of Duty iteration will be titled Black Ops and will be delivered in the fall by Treyarch. A new game in the series, with a more action adventure focus, is also being handled by Sledgehammer Games, a studio headed by former Dead Space creators.
