It'll annoy him

The Resident Evil franchise is probably one of the most popular horror survival series of games out there, as it has gained a massive amount of fans ever since its first title was launched in 1996, for the first PlayStation. The franchise was created by Shinji Mikami, who has been the man responsible for all of the games up until this latest installment, Resident Evil 5.

The director announced shortly after the release of RE 4 that he would not be working on the next title. He chose another path for his career and he is currently  working as a producer for an Electronic Arts horror game and another project. The fact that RE 5 is nearing completion, as a demo of the game will appear in Japan next week, with other territories getting their hands on it a short time after, has made Mikami step up and express his feelings towards this new game.

He said that, although the game would look very good to an average gamer, who might or might not have played the other games in the series, he definitely would not buy it. He motivated his choice saying that, most probably, he wouldn't like it as he would always see things he could have done better had he made the game.

“I probably won't play it. I won't like it, because it's not going to be the game I would have made. It'll just cause me stress if I play it. I think it could be fun for gamers to play it, but not for someone who has developed Resident Evil games. If I see anything in Resident Evil 5 that isn't done well, I'll be angry!”

Some pretty interesting statements made by the game creator. With a lot of new features as opposed to the RE 4 game, this upcoming title promises to bring a whole new experience to the player. From the fact that the action is set in the daytime to the new co-op mode, a lot of changes have been made, and the Capcom team seems to have produced a very interesting game, even though not under Mikami's leadership. Let's just hope that RE 5 will prove worthy of all the hype that has been built around it.
