Paul W.S. Anderson is interested in a Castlevania and Metal Gear Solid film

Considering the huge hit the Prince of Persia movie is expected to be, it's no wonder more and more producers are exploring other game-related movie possibilities. Rise of the Lich King, the World of Warcraft movie is another one that is expected to perform great, but, until it's done, it looks like Resident Evil: Afterlife will have to suffice.

Paul W.S. Anderson is the man responsible for the film's shooting, and it seems like the video-game idea is starting to be more and more appealing to him. This fourth edition in the Resident Evil film series that started in 2002 isn't enough to satisfy his thirst for the supernatural, so he's looking into some other game-related projects.

The first project that caught his attention was a Castelvania spin-off that should end up as a movie. The tip comes from ShockTillYouDrop, which spoke to Afterlife's Co-producer, Jeremy Bolt. Apparently, Bolt said that, "Paul W.S. Anderson is still circling video game adaptation Castlevania at Rogue Pictures and that they are waiting on a script."

As rumors around the net go, James Wan, the director of the movie Saw, is also involved in this project as a director and co-writer, but rumors, even if some turn out to be true, are just that: unreliable until proven innocent. Let's hope that the movie will have at least one thing in common with the game project, and that is that it will never be released.

As for that second project that Anderson might work on, well, we can easily say that the game is already pretty much a movie as it could be. If we consider just how much cinematic footage was included in Metal Gear Solid 4, then it wouldn't come as a shock to anyone that he is considering making a full-length movie from it.

No matter how you think about it, it's a logical decision. You don't have to make anything new, if anything, you have to cut down, in massive chunks, and select some of the in-game cinematic to make up your script. ShockTillYouDrop said that, "Bolt added that he and Anderson would like to adapt Konami's Metal Gear Solid for the big screen at Columbia Pictures," but that also means that no approval has been given yet. Let's cross our fingers and hope for the best, that being that Resident Evil is the only thing he torments.
