Despite the fact that the E3 2012 demonstration of Resident Evil 6 was filled with explosive moments and plenty of impressive scenes, the game will still put a heavy emphasis on true survival horror elements, according to Capcom.

Resident Evil 6 is out this October and Capcom is trying to combine the best aspects of the long-running franchise into a cohesive package.

While quite a few videos have appeared in recent times, the first real gameplay demonstration was showcased at E3 2012 at the beginning of the month.

The footage, which had plenty of action-filled moments, did little to soothe the worries of fans who wanted a return to the franchise’s survival horror roots.

The final game, however, will still have plenty of horror elements, according to the game’s producer, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi.

“First of all, we’ve tuned this demo to show how the Crossover works, to show an enemy so strong that it needs four players coordinating to take it down. So you have lots of action, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be all like that during the whole game. Also, we’ve set it so people don’t keep dying in the middle of the demo, so it has plenty of guns and plenty of ammo,” he said about the E3 2012 demo.

Besides action moments, the game will still force players into challenging situations where they have to make the most of their resources if they’re to survive.

“You’ll still have Resident Evil-style situations where you have a shotgun with only two shells in it and you have to make sure you make it counts. Those elements will come into play in the real flow of the game when you get to this point, and we think that’s what survival horror is all about. “Can I live through this situation with the resources I have at hand?” You should feel like that, like you’re playing a Resident Evil game.”

According to Capcom, each of the game’s three single-player campaigns will have a different feel, so it’s going to be interesting to see what the company can achieve.

Resident Evil 6 is out on October 2 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
