Shooting has never looked so good

The PlayStation 3 hasn't experienced quite a big number of high-end games ever since its launch. Executives from the company blamed the fact that developers didn't fully understand its hardware and that they merely scratched the surface in terms of what the Japanese big black console could do. But things will change soon, as two new highly expected titles will appear for the PS3 at the end of February and the beginning of March.

But until then, it seems that you can now take these two new games for a test, as the demos for both Resident Evil 5 and Killzone 2 will shoot their way onto the PlayStation Network this week. First of all, the survival horror series developed by Capcom can now already be found in the New Releases section of the PlayStation Store, as the company launched it before the usual Thursday update in order for any PS3 user to enjoy shooting zombies in an African country.

The demo includes three modes, a single player one, in which you will play the main character of the first game, Chris Redfield, and will be accompanied by Sheva, who will assist you during gameplay, an online co-op one, which allows one of your friends to play as Sheva, and, among the most interesting, a split-screen offline co-op one in which you and one of your friends will be able to play through the demo together.

The Killzone 2 demo will be available for download on February 5 across all territories. But, due to the policies of the Japanese company, only European users will have the chance to download it for free, as North American users will be able to get it if they pre-order the full game from GameStop. But for people who aren't very pleased with pre-ordering and who don't want to create and European PSN account, North America will get the free version of the demo only a few days before the official release of Killzone 2, on February 27.

It will feature two parts of the game's first level and will give players the chance to get acquainted with the control of Killzone 2. You will shoot your way through a beach landing and a warehouse filled with enemies, so the top-notch action of the first game is set to make a great comeback.

All in all, PS3 users are in for a very busy week and will surely enjoy at least one of these great games.
