The Resident Evil franchise is probably one of the most successful horror survival series of games out there. It has won over a big number of fans through its intricate story, its solid gameplay mechanics and the fact that it creates a gruesome atmosphere that can hardly be matched by any other game.

Through its various iterations, it has set benchmarks in terms of storytelling and choices given to players, with quite a few games offering multiple endings. The latest title, Resident Evil 4, received critical acclaim from a lot of industry analysts, due to the fact that it intertwined a great survival story and some very well-built levels and environments.

The next game in the series, Resident Evil 5, wants to make the last title obsolete and promises to be a true successor to the first original game, telling the story of Chris Redfield, as he battles his way out in an African country plagued by a zombie that turns people into the same kind of monsters. This new title will be host to quite a lot of changes, as its action will take place during the day, and will feature a co-op mode and other surprises.

Scheduled for a March release, the game has already seen the launch of a demo for the Xbox 360 users but it was only limited to Japan. After that, Capcom, the company behind this title, declared that a worldwide demo would eventually be released but declined to offer a date. Although quite a lot of horror fans expected it to be launched just in time for Christmas, as a special gift, it seems that Capcom has encountered a few problems and won't make the demo available before the holidays.

Speaking with MTV Multiplayer, a Capcom representative stated that the demo was scheduled for an early 2009 release, and apologized to all of the fans who had their hopes up for a sooner appearance of the anticipated demo.
