European hackers have managed to crack the iPhone

The race for unlocking the iPhone seems to have come to an end, as some reports of hackers managing to make the device available without AT&T SIM cards have appeared. Most solutions have presented several disadvantages, making the hacking alternative less appealing for those who care about their newly purchased devices.

The newest solution is highly convenient for many people, as it needs the smallest conditions to be met. A Hackintosh forum member said that he has already tested this solution in the Orange UK network and that it works. This has been possible with the help of an Infinity USB Unlimited, some special software and a blank SIM card.

The solution is said to make it possible for the user to place regular calls and enjoy the iPhone's full performances. If indeed so, it looks like AT&T and other iPhone carriers are facing a problem. Still, it was unlikely for the smartphone to stay locked forever, with all the hackers struggling to crack it.

The new solution that the European hackers have found asks for about USD 96 for completing. This includes the Infinity USB Unlimited, which costs USD 88 and the blank SIM card, that comes at USD 8. It is quite affordable, when considering the two-year subscription that AT&T has closed with iPhone buyers, but highly inconvenient, if taking into account that the starting price of the 8GB iPhone is USD 600.

The problem with this new iPhone unlocking solution is that the phone automatically loses its warranty. Moreover, there's also the possibility that the carrier will notice that the owner has unlocked it and cancel his subscription.

Softpedia has not tried this solution for cracking the iPhone and is not supportive with such initiatives. Anyone willing to try this will take full responsibility.
