Cyberattacks launched against organizations are not uncommon these days. But how important is to know where the attacks are coming from?
That’s the question that an upcoming Ponemon Research Institute study, underwritten by live cyber risk intelligence provider Norse, will answer.
Norse has published a couple of interesting figures from the report on the company’s blog.
It turns out that 53% of the 700 IT and IT security practitioners that took part in the study believe it’s essential or very important to know the geo-location of a cyberattack. This can help the targeted organization in determining the severity of the threat.
On the other hand, 61% of the respondents have admitted that they don’t know the origin of the most recent cyberattacks. Furthermore, their current cyber security solutions don’t have the capability to determine where the attack is coming from.
According to Norse, the upcoming report will explain the importance of determining the origin of an attack, and the role played by live intelligence in this process.
