14 DAY TRIAL // After leaving Taris to its rather horrible fate, you get to fly the Ebon Hawk to the Jedi Enclave housed by the planet Dantooine. The one problem getting there is in the horrible turret sequence that you must negotiate. You will learn to hate the times you need to defend the ship you fly in. It doesn't help that, at least for me, the game kept crashing at the beginning of the Dantooine landing movie.
Becoming a Jedi is nice and all but the real interesting spot is the piece of land situated right in front of the space on which the Ebon Hawk lands. There's where your party will get approached by NPCs that are able to give you missions. The upside is that these are the best side missions in the game. The downside is that you have to work a bit to get them. And by working, I mean talking to the people in your party until they reveal a bit of their past lives to you.
Mission Vao will talk about her long lost brother and the woman who got him away from her. She's gonna show up and send you along to get Griff on Tatooine where you will discover that Mission might be idealizing her sibling a bit. Bastila is set to talk about her mother and, as the main character, you will be able to provide a family reunion. For the often Dark Side/Light Side switching Juhani, the quest will be related to slaver Xor. Carth will need you to help get his son back from the Sith while the always macho and boisterous Canderous will get a chance to encounter a blast from the past and make peace with himself. Jolee will help you with a certain annoying murder case that kept the hotel closed down on Mannan.
The beauty about all of them is that the quests bring life to the characters that travel along with you and that they allow you to dwell deeper into the history and lore of the galaxy. The Bastila side quest manages to show the player how deep and conflicted the character really is. On a second play through, a gamer can really see how the life of Bastila has lead him/her to the events she will cause and take part in when traveling with the main character in Knights of the Old Republic.
