Regardless of what critics said, “The Hangover” movie franchise is one of the best selling comedy franchises in history, so it was to be expected for more movies of this type to come out. Reese Witherspoon will be in one of them, described as “The Hangover” with a girl in it.

Entertainment Weekly confirms that the actress, seen last onscreen in the romantic drama “Water for Elephants,” has already agreed to appear in the film with a role that will probably help her, at the same time, shell her good-girl image.

“EW has confirmed that she’ll star in – and produce – the comedy Who Invited Her? from DreamWorks Studios,” the movie-oriented publication writes.

“The project’s official logline describes it as a movie ‘about a woman who insists on tagging along on a guy’s bachelor party weekend.’ Could it be The Hangover with a female component? Surely sounds like it,” EW further says, adding that such a move from movie studios to capitalize on “The Hangover” was to be expected.

After all, the sequel, which came out a couple of weeks ago, made $118 million in the US alone over the opening weekend even though critics completely thrashed, becoming the biggest comedy opening of all times.

“Novelist Sascha Rothchild, who is writing and executive producing her book How To Get Divorced By 30 into a comedy for Universal, is set to pen the script, while The Soloist‘s Gary Foster and Russ Kransnoff will produce alongside Witherspoon, who has recently been taking more behind-the-scenes roles in movies like the yet-to-be-released comedy This Means War, which stars Tom Hardy and Chris Pine,” EW adds.

Further details on the comedy are not available just yet, but chances are good “The Hangover 3” will be coming out before it does.

Speaking of which, shortly after the release of the second film, word started to make the rounds online that a third movie was already in the making, which will be probably set in Amsterdam, as we also informed you at the time.
