A new type of cosmetic surgery will be offered to women in the United Kingdom next year, a procedure that aims to relocate troublesome fat from certain parts of the body to the chest, where it is used for a better definition and more volume. The procedure is estimated to cost £8,000 when it becomes available and it is said to have more lasting and satisfying results than the classic option of implants, the Daily Mail says.

According to leading surgeons who are now supervising volunteers who agreed to have the surgery five years ago, the results are nothing short of extraordinary. The augmented breasts have a more natural feel and look to them, while the intervention also helps women rid themselves of unwanted fat from areas like the abdomen or thighs. Moreover, they say, the problem that is common with implants (which need to be replaced after a while in many cases) will not appear with this procedure.

“This is the most exciting breakthrough in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery that I have seen over the last two decades. It amounts to two beneficial procedures in one – taking unwanted fat from one or two areas of a patient’s body and transferring it to the breast area.” Mel Braham, chairman of the Harley Medical Group, which will offer the procedure, tells the Daily Mail.

“Natural breast enlargement using fat grafting, in addition to increasing the size of the breast, has a more natural look and feel. In simple terms, the fat transfer procedure collects fat from a part of the body with excessive fat deposits and then places it in another part of the body where it is used for cosmetic and aesthetic purposes. This type of augmentation technique is very effective in enabling surgeons to shape the breast and achieve smooth, natural-looking contours.” Zdenek Pros, one of the surgeons at the Harley Medical Group, adds for the same publication.

So, not only will the procedure solve two problems at once, but it will also have more natural results, unlike some of the interventions used today. With this in mind, it’s no wonder Braham estimates this 2-in-1 procedure will dominate the market within the next ten years.
