Previously “leaked” screenshots of differently colored Nexus 5 proved fake

Another day, another rumor regarding the possible availability of Nexus 5 in more color versions has emerged online, this time suggesting that the phone might be released in Red and Yellow as soon as the next month.

A leaked photo that allegedly shows the Red version of the mobile phone has appeared, said to be only of a sample product.

However, the actual smartphone is expected to hit shelves in Vietnam sometime in February or March and to be accompanied by a Yellow variant, info coming from Vietnam.net suggests.

Unfortunately, there’s no telling on whether the leaked image is real or fake, and we’ll have to take it with a big chunk of salt, especially since the supposedly “leaked” screenshots that emerged yesterday with various colors of Nexus 5 proved fake.

Apparently, said images were only concept renderings that made it online back in October last year for the first time and do not show the real handset.

Now confirmed fake, the leak also suggested that Google and LG planned on bringing to the market no less than six new color versions of the mobile phone.

At the moment, Nexus 5 is available only in Black and White and, with many leading manufacturers out there adopting a wider range of color options for their smartphones, it would make sense for Google to make a similar move for the Nexus lineup.

However, the company hasn’t confirmed specifics on such plans as of now, which suggests that the info above might never pan out and that the allegedly leaked photo of the Red Nexus 5 will prove fake, the same as the aforementioned screenshots, as phonearena notes.

For the time being, we can only hope that Vietnam will indeed receive a more colorful version of the latest Google phone as soon as the next month, since it would mean that other markets will also receive it shortly after. Stay tuned for more on this.
