Earlier this week, the Wildlife Conservation Society's Central Park Zoo debuted a pair of snow leopard cubs. Fast forward a few days, and the Society is ready to once again entertain people.

This time, the lucky ones were visitors to the Bronx Zoo and Prospect Park Zoo.

Thus, a total of four red panda cubs born at these facilities this past summer have recently stepped into the public eye for the first time.

On its official website, the Wildlife Conservation Society details that each of the zoos is home to a pair of red panda cubs. The pairs are both made up of a boy and a girl.

“The subspecies of red panda at the Bronx Zoo (Ailurus fulgens fulgens) is found in the western part of their Himalayan range,” the Society explains.

“The Prospect Park pandas (Ailurus fulgens refulgens) are a subspecies from the eastern portion of the range and are characteristically darker in color and slightly larger,” it adds.

Presently, red pandas are considered a vulnerable species. The main threat to their long-term survival is deforestation in Nepal, India, Bhutan, China, and Myanmar.
