During Red Hat Summit, the developer Red Hat announced its intention to launch Red Hat Directory Server, which will be available for purchase directly from Red Hat or its distributors starting with June 2005.

Together with Red Hat Directory Server, Fedora will also be the beneficiary of a similar project called Fedora Directory Server which has the purpose of promoting and improving the server directory - type open source technologies.

Red Hat Directory Server's main competitors are the similar solutions available from Novell Sun and Microsoft.

In the same way as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Directory Server will be available on the market via the annual subscription purchase model, which includes maintenance, unlimited support in case of incidents and periodic updates.

Red Hat also announced the release of Red Hat Certificate Management System, which allow for an easier management of the users' identity.

Moreover, Red Hat announced that it is also developing other products based on the technologies it purchased from Netscape Security Solutions.
