Alongside Uprising for the PC

The PlayStation 3 version of Red Alert 3, which has been dubbed the Ultimate Edition, has been officially confirmed by Electronic Arts as coming in March, although the exact date is still subject to change. We're pretty sure that the publisher is not too quick in pinning down the release date as there's a big chance of another delay being announced.

Here's what players are getting as part of the now official Ultimate Edition of Red Alert 3: five new multiplayer maps set to be exclusive for the PlayStation 3; Raising the Iron Curtain, a behind the scenes documentary related to how the game was made and other trailers and video content, like From Pens to Pixels, the Girls of Red Alert 3, Bloopers & Outtakes and the Red Alert 3 Remix; exclusive programming like a new BattleCast PrimeTime and an episode of Command School that offers players a look at very interesting tips, tricks and strategies.

Red Alert 3 arrived in October of 2008 for the PC, which is still the proffered platform for real time strategy titles, and in November on the Xbox 360, with a control scheme that failed to impress. There's no word on whether Electronic Arts plans to change the way the game is controlled on the PlayStation 3, but you should not to get your hopes up.

The fact that Electronic Arts, which is pretty console neutral (meaning that they try to release a game at the same time for all the platforms targeted) is waiting five months before releasing a major title like Red Alert 3 for the PlayStation 3 underlines the current weakness of the Sony created home gaming console, which has seen disappointing sales in 2008. It’s hard to believe that the extra content available will manage to attract players to the title, considering that they had a lot of time to get and to finish the game on the PC.
