YouTube sensation Rebecca Black gets career boost from none other than Ryan Seacrest

He’s known for promoting newcomers on his radio show (like Kim Kardashian, with her first single), but he also has a reputation of a savvy businessman. Knowing an opportunity when he sees one, Ryan Seacrest has jumped on the Rebecca Black winning bandwagon.

Some time ago, about two weeks back, we were telling you of a new viral music video. It was for a song called “Friday” by a hot new young “artist” going by the name of Rebecca Black.

Critics have branded her song bold at best and dumb at worst, but no amount of criticism could stop it from reaching new heights in the online community.

As such, good or not, Rebecca Black became the hottest commodity – and Ryan Seacrest was among the first to acknowledge that and give her career a proper boost.

A new report by TMZ says that Seacrest helped the young singer land her first major record deal by using the influence he has in showbiz.

He also got her proper management, it would seem.

“13-year-old Rebecca Black – the phenom behind that ‘Friday’ song – has a good mentor, as in Ryan Seacrest... because R.S. just helped Rebecca sign with a big music manager,” TMZ reports.

The decision apparently came after Ryan met Rebecca during a recent interview for his show.

“Rebecca did Ryan’s radio show on Thursday, and afterward Ryan realized Rebecca and her mom were overwhelmed by the sudden burst of attention,” TMZ argues.

“Sources tell us Ryan hooked Rebecca up with Debra Baum, a manager with DB Entertainment. Rebecca has now signed with DB,” the same report says.

Understandably, Ryan will probably also get a cut from the deal, since Black is not popular for nothing, as they say.

In fact, as a recent report by Forbes reveals, she may actually be on her way to become a millionaire: “Friday” sold 37,000 copies in its first week of release.

For an artist that maligned as Black – and just as unknown – that is definitely an impressive figure.
