Summer is far from over, so chances are that we'll be eating a whole lot more ice cream over the next few weeks. The good news is that, thanks to one wacky scientist, feasting on ice cream stands to soon get way more entertaining than it has until now been.

Long story short, media reports say that, not too long ago, Manuel Linares, who used to be a physicist but who now works as a cook, introduced the world to a type of ice cream with a wee of a personality disorder.

This ice cream, a photo of which is available above, changes color as it melts. It moves from being blue – check out the photo below to get a better idea of its original color – to being purple. Sort of like a tasty version of the Hulk, if you will. Oddity Central tells us that, because of how it reacts when left to endure warm temperatures for several minutes in a row, Manuel Linares' downright bizarre ice cream is dubbed Xamaleon, which translates as “chameleon.”

The 37-year-old physicist explains that, contrary to what some might assume, the ice cream is perfectly safe to eat. This is because the peculiar treat is made from natural ingredients alone, Xamaleon's creator goes on to explain.

“It was important to me to make sure I only used natural ingredients, so it took a bit longer. Everyone laughed, but as a physicist I know that there are various possibilities that might work and I was delighted when I managed to crack it and create an ice cream that changes color,” he says.

Furthermore, “I am a huge fan of the British ice cream genius Charlie Francis, the creator of a fluorescent ice and founder of the company Lick Me Delicious, and I wanted to create an ice cream that changed color to try and do something new as well.”

Strawberries, cocoa, almonds, banana, pistachio, vanilla, and caramel are just some of the ingredients 37-year-old Manuel Linares uses to make his color-changing ice cream. Unfortunately, the physicist is not yet willing to detail how these ingredients are combined to make Xamaleon.

“I am not giving out too much detail because the patents are still going through,” the former physicist explains his decision to remain silent on this topic. One can only hope that, once all the paperwork is order, Manuel Linares will agree to disclose his recipe.

For now, those who wish to give this odd ice cream a try must visit the town of Calella de Mar close to Barcelona. The good news is that, should things go according to plan, it will not be long until the 37-year-old physicist-turned-cook starts selling his color-changing ice cream all throughout Spain.
