The latest version of the famous RealPlayer includes some useful features that allow users to download a YouTube clip straight on their computer. Basically, the new release can rip most of the video formats such as Flash, Real, Windows Media and even QuickTime. According to RealNetworks, the producer of the application, the program will be available for Windows and will work with Internet Explorer and Firefox. A Mac version will be also developed but it will be launched later this year. However, the company mentioned that a beta of this new version of RealPlayer will be available in June via a free download from the official website.

"The new RealPlayer gives consumers more control of Internet video than was ever possible before. By floating a "download this video" button next to video seen on thousands of Web sites, RealPlayer makes it one-click simple. The new RealPlayer is a major step towards realizing our vision of bringing great digital entertainment to more people on more screens around the world," said Rob Glaser, chairman and CEO of Real.

According to the parent company, the upcoming releases of RealPlayer will also contain innovative functions that will allow you to transfer the clips on your portable devices and view them in any location. However, the June release of RealPlayer is more than a simple multimedia player because it will include CD/DVD burning features as well as the direct download functions to save a certain video posted on the Internet straight on your computer.

As you can see, more and more applications are now implementing YouTube support into their features because Google's online video sharing service is attracting a considerable number of users. Obviously, the increased popularity of YouTube also means more customers for a certain program as millions of clients are looking for a powerful tool to view YouTube's clips.
