14 DAY TRIAL // A four-bedroom, 2,200-square-foot (204.39-square-meter) house from Henderson, Nevada is the perfect replica of the famous cartoon family's home and was first unveiled in August 1997. The replica features the exact colors and details that the Simpsons animated house holds.
The team that built the replica went through more than 100 episodes to trace all of the details needed to transform the animated home into a reality. The real-life Simpsons house was built for a Fox and Pepsi sponsored promotion by Kaufman and Broad Home Construction with an estimated price of $120,000 (€87,765), according to Daily Mail.
The replica was designed to look exactly like the cartoon house, with a gray driveway and a concrete pathway connecting it to the bright orange door, and every room of the house furnished with the same items like the ones Homer has in his home.
Iconic items like the red couch from the living room and the crocked sailboat painting from the wall pop up in the colorful decor. Even little Maggie's high chair and family portraits hanging on the wall are featured in the real-life house, as well as Bart's tree house and Homer's barbecue.
The two-story detached house with a basement, loft and garage is listed at the fictional address 742 Evergreen Terrace. The backyard is surrounded with a wooden picket fence and the well-known sign “Do Not Enter” attached to it.
The house was constructed for the contest “The Simpsons House Give Away” and was the grand prize won by Barbara Howard from Kentuky. Ms. Howard preferred a cash payment of $75,000 instead of the actual Simpsons house replica. In 2001, the house was modified to less resemble the television series and was sold to another owner.
