Football SuperStars is a project created by CyberSports in collaboration with developer Monumental Games and it will be, of course, a soccer game. But not any soccer game, a massively multi-player online one for PC, and judging from the recently released character renders, it will, at least, look great.

The concept of this game is quite simple, yet different to what multiplayer soccer games usually mean: the player will take control of a single character on the pitch and, together with a team formed by other real players controlling their own characters, will battle in 3, 5, 7 or even 11-a-side soccer matches. A very nice and interesting addition, according to Malcolm Clark, CEO of CyberSports.

"The MMO is the perfect platform for team sports games. This is the focus that has enabled us to bring authenticity and real competition to a football game for the first time, by playing against real people instead of AI. It's all coming together - the full 11-a-side matches we play in the studio have the atmosphere and tension of a real football match.", he said.

Football SuperStars is ready to enter its closed Alpha stage and there are some good news for those of you who can hardly wait for the game to appear: the tester registration window is not closed yet, so if you would like to be part of the game and be among the first to experience it, go to the game's website and sign up.

"Game-play and realism are revolutionary! Playing in and against teams of real people is simply the right way to play a football game, and the MMOG platform is perfect to bring like-minded gamers and football fans together", said Clark, adding that the game is expected to be released in Q2 2008. It will be available only for the PC platform.
