Last time we wrote about MiniWiz, the Taiwanese team of innovators dedicated to eco-solutions, was when they created a solar-powered LED device dubbed Solarbulb.

They seem to have gone a long way, as the latest offering comes in the form  of Re-Wine, a chic wine case that builds on the company’s core values: reduce, reuse, recycle.

Not only does Re-Wine prevent the wine from breaking or spilling, but after you have enjoyed the wine, the innovative design allows you to reuse the case in various ways. Made of 100% recycled materials, it even helps reduce the amount of waste in landfills.

“Re-Wine is the epitome of re-purposing, a creative solution for our trashy resources,” Jean Pierre from MiniWiz tells us.

The Re-Wine design uses built-in interlocking joints and partially biodegradable materials, proving that trash bottles can also be chic, practical, and planet-friendly.

“The adult version of LEGO, Re-Wine’s innovative design allows the case to interlock with each other. Use this product as building blocks to create a wall or durable custom furniture,” MiniWiz says.

The case is made from rice farming by-products, and recycled post-consumer thermoplastics, combined to make POLLIBER.

According to Re-Wine creators, reprocessed rice husks provide mechanical strength for the recycled polypropylene, providing architectural grade plastic that is both partly biodegradable and recyclable, and can also be manufactured with low CO2 emissions.

What’s more, the reusable carrying case transforms into an energy-efficient LED desk lamp, using your empty wine bottle as a stand. In addition, it also shines as a standalone chandelier.

The general public will get the chance to experience Re-wine for the first time at the upcoming Taipei Pavilion during the 2011 World Design Expo in Taipei, one of the largest events organized in Asia. The event will take place between October 22-30, 2011.
