10 categories, 11 nominations, 10 “wins” for the actor / producer / screenwriter

After setting a new record in the history of the Raspberry Awards, the Oscars-spoof ceremony that “celebrates” the worst the movie industry has to offer in a single year, Adam Sandler has just ripped a new page in history books for the kind of achievement no one wants to brag about.

He is now officially the star to swipe clean the Razzies at the awards show: 10 categories, 11 nominations and 10 “wins,” a press statement on the Foundation's official page notes.

Clearly, this is not the kind of record you'd want to brag to friends about, let alone one that will help you get more credibility in the industry.

As noted above, the Razzies are the Oscars reversed: they (dis)honor the worst acting performances, the worst scripts, the worst directors and the worst films of the previous year.

Without a single doubt, one can say 2011 did not turn out to be a good year for the former crowd pleaser Adam Sandler.

“Ninety-seven percent of the critics at Rotten Tomatoes disliked Adam Sandler's two-for-one twaddle-fest of a twin comedy JACK & JILL – and apparently 100% of RAZZIE Award Voters agreed,” the Raspberry Foundation writes.

“Although not all 10 RAZZIES awarded to JACK & JILL were for Sandler personally, the results suggest that Sandler may want to wait awhile before ever donning drag again,” notes the same.

Those who dared sit through “Jack & Jill” must know that Sandler plays twins, brother and sister. He also wrote the script and acted as producer.

Though the “Twilight” films are usually favorites at this particular competition (but this doesn't diminish their appeal to the general public), the latest installment in the franchise took a back seat this year, to Adam Sandler.

The only category in which it still proved to be a “worthy” opponent was the newly-founded Worst Screen Couple, which allowed both Rotten Tomatoes critics and the public to vote.

“With balloting conducted on the Rotten Tomatoes website, 35,117 votes were cast — and JACK & JILL barely nosed out the cast of TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PART I,” the Foundation notes.

Below is the complete list of categories and “winners”:

Worst Picture: “Jack and Jill” Worst Actor: Adam Sandler, “Jack and Jill” and “Just Go With It"” Worst Actress: Adam Sandler, “Jack and Jill” Worst Supporting Actor: Al Pacino, “Jack and Jill” Worst Supporting Actress: David Spade, “Jack and Jill” Worst Screen Ensemble: The Cast of “Jack and Jill” Worst Director: Dennis Dugan, “Jack and Jill” and “Just Go With It” Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel: “Jack and Jill” Worst Screenplay: “Jack and Jill,” screenplay by Steve Koren & Adam Sandler, story by Ben Zook Worst Screen Couple: Adam Sandler and either Katie Holmes, Al Pacino or Adam Sandler in “Jack and Jill”
