A collector's item to be revealed at DreamHack 2007

"For gamers, by gamers". This is Razer's motto, and up until now, the company has always been true to its word, as it has launched quite a large number of products held in the highest regard by gamers all around the world. And the latest addition to this impressive line-up will be the Boomslang Collector's Edition 2007, a re-iteration of the previous Razer Boomslang model that takes the original design a step further, as it features a sleek and attractive titanium casing.

The device is not called a collector's edition for nothing. Thus, it seems that Razer plans to manufacture just 10,000 units, which will probably make the Boomslang quite an expensive device, both at launch and after. After all, each hardcore gamer out there will want one, if not necessarily for its qualities, at least for the bragging rights.

Razer has been quite secretive about the Boomslang. They've posted a picture of the thing, and declared that the mouse will have a titanium finish from end-to-end, as well as a green LED installed in the scroll wheel, which will generate quite an eerie light effect and will help users find the mouse in the dark. However, they've said nothing about the "latest technologies" which will be included in the Boomslang, so we're not sure whether it will have a laser engine or an optical sensor.

The company made this announcement in preparation for the DreamHack expo that will start in Sweden two days from now (on the 16th of June). They're even holding a competition at that event, where a few lucky gamers will be able to win some of the company's famous products, as for example the DeathAdder mouse, Tarantula keyboard and Barracuda graphics card. At the DreamHack the company is set to reveal the final specs of the Boomslang, as well as the retail price and shipping dates, and we'll keep you informed as we get a hold of these pieces of information.
