Another music icon has passed away. Ray Manzarek, who founded the Doors in 1965 with the late Jim Morrison and played keyboards with the band, has died after a brief battle with cancer.

His publicist confirms the sad news for the New York Times. Manzarek died at a clinic in Rosenheim, Germany. He was 74 years old.

“Mr. Manzarek had been sick for several months with cancer of the bile ducts, his publicist, Heidi Ellen Robinson Fitzgerald, said in a statement,” the publication reports.

“He died at about 3:31 p.m. at the RoMed Clinic in Rosenheim. His wife, Dorothy, and his brothers, Rick and James, were at his bedside,” adds the same media outlet.

The world is now in mourning, with fans and fellow musicians rushing to pay one final tribute to Manzarek, be it on social media or in the press. He will be missed.
