Lots of players regret purchasing Reality Pump’s game

The long-expected Raven’s Cry RPG has been finally launched on Steam after being delayed several times. Developed by Reality Pump and published by TopWare Interactive, the game has received mostly negative reviews from players.

Apart from some screenshots and teaser trailers, there were little to no gameplay videos released by developers ahead of the game’s launch, which is usually a bad sign.

Raven’s Cry is a pirate-themed game, which was in development for several years. Initially expected to be released on October 2013, it was delayed for May 2014 and then November 2014.

However, in December 2014 publisher TopWare Interactive announced the game would be released on January 28, 2015. Obviously, that did not happen, though this time the delay was only by two days, so those who pre-purchase the game were able to play it beginning January 30.

Since its release on Steam, Raven’s Cry received mostly negative reviews, which isn’t that surprising considering that the game was postponed so many times.

The game seems to be unfinished and has a very weak combat system

Even so, it’s incomprehensible how come a game that was delayed so many times because developers were not “willing to rush things and make any compromises with this project” has gotten so many reviews stating that Raven’s Cry looks unfinished.

“This game probably needed another year in development. Voice overs are largly missing, and those that are there are pathetically done. Ship battles are simply a joke and is what will probably kill the game for me. No-where near ready for release!

“A complete waste of my money. With what I know now, I wouldn't buy if for $10 let alone the $50 speacial launch price I paid,” says one of the reviews on Steam.

Another disappointed customer questions developers on the combat system, which he/she says “it is simply a joke. I can’t even realize if I hit the enemy.”

On top of that, Raven’s Cry has been priced as a triple A title, which means those who want it will have to pay €55 ($55 / £35) for it on Steam.
