Zambia is now home to a white baby baboon, which was born in this part of the world quite a while ago and which is now busy getting accustomed to its surrounding environment.

Sources say that this baboon is not an albino, and that its unusual body color comes as a result of a medical condition known as “leucism.”

In case anyone was wondering, this means that the pigmentation cells in its body failed to develop properly.

Because its being white all over keeps it from blending in with its surroundings, concerns are raised with respect to its long-term survival chances.

Some of the people who got to spend some time with this baboon and its family claim that, as weird as it may sound, both its mother and the other females belonging to the group are more protective of it than they are of their other offspring.
