A rare and bizarre condition that produces excess adrenaline is the cause of a 19-year-old's blood tears, nosebleeds, and red fluid sweat. As weird as it may seem, the girl had been actually crying tears of blood for years until discovering the fact that she was suffering from hematidrosis.

Delfina Cedeno from the town of Veron, the Dominican Republic, shocked doctors when she complained of bleeding with no apparent reason from her fingernails, belly button, eyes, nose, and even sweating blood and dealing with severe hair loss. Doctors believed it to be impossible until one of these episodes happened right in front of a physician.

One of the worst episodes the 19-year-old girl suffered kept her bleeding for 15 days and lead to blood transfusions in order to keep her alive. The girl's condition made her drop out of school and isolate herself because of the fear of embarrassment.

“When this started happening to me I didn't know what to think – I was terrified and in complete shock. At first no one could help me and they looked at me like a crazy person when I told them what was going on,” the suffering teen said, according to Daily Mail.

Because of her isolation, Delfina became depressed and suicidal, attempting to take her own life with a sedative overdose. After going into cardiac arrest, the doctors struggled to save her life with multiple electric shocks. She recovered after “technically dying” and almost losing the use of one of her limbs.

Her unknown condition made it in the local newspapers, and one curious reader came to the hospital to meet her after reading her story. Recaris Avila, the surprise visitor, fell in love with Delfina and has stayed by her side ever since.

After almost four years of research, doctors finally gave Ms. Cedeno her diagnostic – hematidrosis – a rare condition that causes elevated adrenaline levels that lead to heightened blood pressure, so severe that it causes sweat to be released as blood. The blood vessels contract under stress or anxiety until they rupture and the liquid ends up into the sweat glands.

Delfina is now taking medication that controls her anxiety attacks and minimize the bleeding, helping her lead a normal life. Her boyfriend, Recaris, stood by her side, and they are now engaged and soon to be married.
