The Gaming Evolved application can do many different things

For many months, NVIDIA was the only one of the two major graphics cards makers that had a game-focused app, but with Raptr's help, AMD has now released its own such PC program.

We are, of course, referring to the NVIDIA Geforce Experience software, and the new program that AMD has launched as a foil.

We could even go as far as to say that AMD's app is more advanced, or at least more versatile, than NVIDIA's.

Then again, when you have Raptr's entire community data to draw upon, you can't honestly not do more than the minimum necessary.

The new software is called Gaming Evolved and, in addition to tweaking game settings for better performance, it allows players to take screenshots and chat online with each other.

"We've watched Raptr build a hugely successful platform and it's clear that they understand what gamers want," said Matt Skynner, corporate vice president and general manager, graphics business unit, AMD.

"The Gaming Evolved App Powered by Raptr allows our users get the most out of their gaming rigs while tapping into a thriving community where they can share their experiences and get rewards."

The Raptr social network actually has a point system, which can be used to hand out rewards, like user beta access to certain games or free DLC.

Streaming via Twitch is possible too, and you can even watch someone else broadcast their gameplay. AMD and Raptr say it's all for the sake of making PC gameplay more similar to consoles.

"We believe we're taking a big step in improving the PC gaming experience for the masses," said Dennis Fong, CEO, Raptr. "Combining AMD's expertise in hardware and performance with Raptr's already popular desktop app and 18+ million community was a perfect fit."

Right now, AMD Gaming Evolved is an open beta. Based on feedback and bug reports, it will be finished in a few months.
